| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Dwain "Chris" Christofferson of Moline, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on May 19, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Chris Christofferson was born to Oscar and Bernice | ||||||
6 | (Swanson) Christofferson in Moline on October 23, 1924; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Moline High School and attended the University | ||||||
8 | of Illinois Extension Center; he served in the U.S. Army in | ||||||
9 | WWII where he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge; Chris | ||||||
10 | married Irene Hoegner in May of 1949; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Chris Christofferson was a supervisor in the | ||||||
12 | Production Control, Product Engineering, and Personnel | ||||||
13 | Departments at Deere Plow-Planter Works; he was then president | ||||||
14 | and treasurer of the Deere & Co. Credit Union; he served on the | ||||||
15 | Governor's Advisory Board for Credit Unions, was president of | ||||||
16 | the Council of Credit Union Executives Society, and served as | ||||||
17 | the first elected president of the merged Plow & Planter Credit | ||||||
18 | Unions; he also worked for the Volunteer Firemen's Insurance | ||||||
19 | Company from which he received an Eagle Award as well as many | ||||||
20 | other awards for outstanding salesmanship and service; | ||||||
21 | following his retirement, he worked as a consultant for John | ||||||
22 | Deere Harvester Credit Union; and

1 | WHEREAS, Chris Christofferson was a member of Immanuel | ||||||
2 | Lutheran Church in Rock Island; he was a Charter Member of the | ||||||
3 | Moline Second Alarmers, founded in 1952, and remained a member | ||||||
4 | for 40 years; he was also a member of the Moline Rotary Club, | ||||||
5 | the Upper Rock Island County Chamber of Commerce, the Veterans | ||||||
6 | of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Disabled American | ||||||
7 | Veterans, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart; he also | ||||||
8 | served as the original chairman of Moline Riverfest from 1983 | ||||||
9 | to 1986; and

10 | WHEREAS, Chris Christofferson was preceded in death by his | ||||||
11 | parents and his sister, Virginia Kirk; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Chris Christofferson is survived by his wife, | ||||||
13 | Irene; his children, Susan Christofferson, Nancy (Mark) | ||||||
14 | Herman, and Paul (Kathy) Christofferson; his grandchildren, | ||||||
15 | Lauren (Tim) Corwin, Haley Walker, and Christopher | ||||||
16 | Christofferson; his nephews, Randy and Chris Kirk; and his | ||||||
17 | brother-in-law, George Kirk; therefore, be it
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
20 | Dwain "Chris" Christofferson and extend our sincere
| ||||||
21 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
| ||||||
22 | him; and be it further
