2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Gerald "Jerry" Braughton of Rock Island, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on June 2, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was born in Taylorville to Loren | ||||||
6 | Potts and Kathryn Braughton on August 29, 1945; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Western Illinois University; he served in the U.S. Army | ||||||
8 | during the Vietnam War; he married Emilie Roels on April 18, | ||||||
9 | 1970; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was employed at the Rock Island | ||||||
11 | Arsenal with Quality Control; he had previously been employed | ||||||
12 | by Navistar; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was a member of Church of Peace in | ||||||
14 | Rock Island and Trio Lodge No. 57; he loved spending time with | ||||||
15 | his family and golfing; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton was preceded in death by his | ||||||
17 | parents and his siblings, Esther Herditsky, Della Becker, | ||||||
18 | Sharon Herditsky, and Harold Braughton; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Jerry Braughton is survived by his wife of over 50 | ||||||
20 | years, Emilie, and his daughters, Amy Braughton (Leigh TenPas) |

1 | and Beth Braughton (Mike Wigglesworth); therefore, be it

2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
4 | Gerald "Jerry" Braughton and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
5 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||

7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
