SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Dominic E. "Ditty" Lynch Jr. of Watseka,
who passed away on May 10, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Dominic Lynch Jr. was born to Dominic E. and Mary
Ellen Nally Lynch Sr. on July 3, 1928; he graduated from
Watseka High School in 1946 and Western Illinois University in
1953, where he earned three varsity letters in football, was
named First Team Defensive Player of the Year, and was inducted
into the Western IL University Football Hall of Fame in 1983;
he served in the U.S. Army under the 1st Infantry Division
during WWII and was stationed in Bad Tolz, Germany; he married
Bonnie L. Scott in Macomb on August 16, 1952, and she preceded
him in death on February 17, 2018; he was a lifetime citizen of
Watseka; and
WHEREAS, Alongside his brother Jack, Dominic Lynch Jr.
carried on his father's business as the former owner, operator,
and vice chairman of the D.E. Lynch Construction Company, which
later became the Iroquois Paving Corporation; he served as
president of the Illinois Asphalt Pavement Association two
times and was a member of the Associated General Contractors of
Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Dominic Lynch Jr. was committed to his faith and
was a member of St. Edmund Catholic Church; he was a Fourth
Degree Knights of Columbus and was actively involved in several
other organizations, including the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity
at Western Illinois University, the Watseka Chamber of
Commerce, the Watseka Lions Club, the Watseka American Legion,
the Union League Club of Chicago, and the Watseka Elks Lodge
No. 1791, where he had served as a past exalted ruler; he was
also a member of the Shewami Country Club, where he was
instrumental in organizing the construction of the back nine in
1984; he was a recipient of the Western Illinois University
Alumni Association Achievement Award, the WCHS Athletic
Achievement Award, and the Sam Walton Business Leader Award;
and
WHEREAS, Nothing brought Dominic Lynch Jr. more joy than
his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; he
especially enjoyed watching them participate in WCHS Athletics
and rarely missed a game or an event; and
WHEREAS, Dominic Lynch Jr. was preceded in death by his
wife; his parents; and his brothers, John (Jack) Lynch and
Patrick Martin Lynch; and
WHEREAS, Dominic Lynch Jr. is survived by his son, Michael
(Patti) Lynch; his daughters, Nancy Cowan, Kathy (Joe) Kubal,

Chris (Kevin) Bossong, and Jennifer (Mike) Dixon; his 12
grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren; therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Dominic E. "Ditty" Lynch Jr. and extend our sincere condolences
to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Dominic Lynch Jr. as an expression
of our deepest sympathy.
