| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Harry C. Muffley of Rock Island, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 2, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Harry Muffley was born in Urbana to Elvay and | ||||||
6 | Bertha Muffley on December 2, 1921; he served in the U.S. Navy | ||||||
7 | during World War II and was cited for bravery and courage; he | ||||||
8 | married Barbara J. Barger in 1971; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Harry Muffley worked for the Department of Defense | ||||||
10 | as a research chemist for 32 years; he retired in 1980; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Harry Muffley was a member of the American | ||||||
12 | Chemical Society, The American Society of Lubrication | ||||||
13 | Engineers, South Park Presbyterian Church in Rock Island, and | ||||||
14 | the American Legion Post 246 in Moline; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Harry Muffley was preceded in death by his | ||||||
16 | parents; his sister, Ruth Borop; and his brother-in-law, Jim | ||||||
17 | Borop; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Harry Muffley is survived by his wife, Barbara | ||||||
19 | Muffley; his stepchildren, Linda (Don) Hildebrand, Nancy | ||||||
20 | (William), and Brian (Kate Cahill) Barger; his five |
| |||||||
| |||||||
1 | grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; and his nieces, | ||||||
2 | Nancy and Miriam Borop; therefore, be it
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
4 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
5 | Harry C. Muffley and extend our sincere
condolences to his | ||||||
6 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | ||||||
7 | further

8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
