SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Myrna J. Kangas, who passed away on
4September 6, 2012; and
5 WHEREAS, Myrna Kangas was born on October 20, 1939, in
6Ironwood, Michigan; she was the daughter of Fritz and Evelyn
7(Johnson) Anderson; she married Donald Kangas on June 28, 1958,
8in Waukegan; she and her husband lived in Waukegan for over 30
9years and were part-time residents of Iron River, Wisconsin
10since 1987; and
11 WHEREAS, Myrna Kangas graduated from L. L. Wright High
12School in Ironwood, Michigan in 1957; and
13 WHEREAS, Myrna Kangas served as the secretary to the
14president of American National Bank in Waukegan for over 20
15years; and
16 WHEREAS, Myrna Kangas was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran
17Church in Waukegan and attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church in
18Iron River, Wisconsin; and
19 WHEREAS, Myrna Kangas was an avid golfer who enjoyed
20playing in the local golf leagues; she also enjoyed reading,

1crocheting, and traveling with her husband; and
2 WHEREAS, Myrna Kangas was preceded in death by her parents
3and her step-father, Raymond Snow; and
4 WHEREAS, Myrna Kangas is survived by her husband, Donald
5Kangas; her daughters, Kimberly Kangas and Kristine Payne; her
6grandchildren, Brian Kangas and Lindsay Payne; her brother,
7Gerald (Percie) Anderson; and her many nieces and nephews;
8therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11her family and friends, the passing of Myrna J. Kangas; and be
12it further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Myrna Kangas as an expression of our
15sympathy.
