2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Thomas E. "Tom" Bivens of Taylor | ||||||
4 | Ridge, who passed away on April 26, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Tom Bivens, the son of Richard and Mary (Bopp) | ||||||
6 | Bivens, was born in Milan on November 5, 1949; he served as a | ||||||
7 | member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the U.S. Army during | ||||||
8 | the Vietnam War; he married Mary Ann McManus on September 7, | ||||||
9 | 1977; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Tom Bivens worked as an assembler at Case IH, | ||||||
11 | retiring after 30 years of service; he was also a master | ||||||
12 | carpenter, working in the home improvement business for 20 | ||||||
13 | years; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Tom Bivens enjoyed doing yard work and reading; | ||||||
15 | he loved helping others and was a blood donor for over 50 | ||||||
16 | years; and

17 | WHEREAS, Tom Bivens was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
18 | and his brothers, Richard (Connie) Bivens and John Bivens; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Tom Bivens is survived by his wife of 46 years, | ||||||
20 | Mary Ann Bivens; his sons, Clint (Leigh) Bivens and John |
