SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Robert W. "Rob" Pullen of
4Naperville, who passed away on July 2, 2012; and
5 WHEREAS, Robert Pullen was born on May 29, 1962, in Oak
6Lawn to Robert and Mary Kay Pullen; he married Dawn Amendola on
7September 16, 1988; and
8 WHEREAS, Robert Pullen was a parishioner and student at Our
9Lady of Ransom in Niles; he graduated from Maine East High
10School in Park Ridge in 1980; he earned a Bachelor of Science
11in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in Physics, from
12the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he played
134 years as the starting shortstop for the university's baseball
14team; in 1993, he earned his MBA in management from
15Northwestern University Kellogg School of Business; and
16 WHEREAS, Rob Pullen joined Tellabs, Inc. in 1985, as an
17electrical engineer; he worked his way up to become the Chief
18Executive Officer in 2008, after holding jobs in development,
19sales, marketing, and services; he reached the position of CEO
20and President and was a member of the Board of Directors; he
21served as the chairman emeritus of the executive board for the
22Telecommunications Industry Association and was a former

1co-chair of SuperComm; and
2 WHEREAS, Rob Pullen was a member of SS. Peter & Paul
3Catholic Church in Naperville; he coached soccer, basketball,
4and baseball, helping children to excel in everything they did;
5he coached his son Brendan's Naperville Little League Cardinals
6to win the city championship in 2007, and he coached the
7Naperville White Sox Travel Baseball Team; he enjoyed traveling
8the world along with boating, water and snow skiing,
9snowmobiling, and spending time with his family at their lake
10house in Green Lake, Wisconsin; and
11 WHEREAS, Robert Pullen is survived by his wife Dawn Pullen;
12his children, Brittany and Brendan Pullen; his parents, Robert
13and Mary Kay (nee Nolan) Pullen; his siblings, Jim (Kim)
14Pullen, Sharon Varco, Jack Pullen, and Mike (Lisa) Pullen; his
15in-laws, Keith (Mary) Amendola, Craig (Diane) Amendola, and
16Krista (Dan Fagan) Amendola; and his 18 nieces and nephews;
17therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Robert Pullen, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
22further
