| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to | ||||||
| 3 | recognize Working Bikes on 25 years of community service in | ||||||
| 4 | and around Chicago's Little Village since its inception in | ||||||
| 5 | 1999; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Working Bikes gives donated bicycles new life by | ||||||
| 7 | redistributing them as tools of empowerment in local and | ||||||
| 8 | global communities, including Africa, Latin America, and | ||||||
| 9 | Chicago, where bicycles are the most reliable, sustainable, | ||||||
| 10 | and environmentally friendly transportation available; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The amazing commitment of the volunteers, staff, | ||||||
| 12 | partners, and supporters of Working Bikes has enabled new life | ||||||
| 13 | for 100,000 bicycles across the globe and tens of thousands in | ||||||
| 14 | Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Working Bikes has empowered people to utilize and | ||||||
| 16 | access resources and opportunities that otherwise could have | ||||||
| 17 | been out of reach, reducing waste, lessening pollution, and | ||||||
| 18 | improving health in the process; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Working | ||||||
| 21 | Bikes on 25 years of working to strengthen local and global | ||||||
