2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Robert H. "Bob" Coyle of Peoria, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 17, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Robert Coyle was born on January 1, 1926 in Peoria | ||||||
6 | to Henry and Helen (nee Kern) Coyle; he attended St. Bernard's | ||||||
7 | Grade School and Peoria High School, where he served as class | ||||||
8 | president, student body president, and Mid-State Student | ||||||
9 | Council President, and he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout; he | ||||||
10 | served his country in the United States Army Air Corps as a | ||||||
11 | flight crew radio operator over the North Atlantic during World | ||||||
12 | War II; he married Shirley Ann Critchlow on August 28, 1948; | ||||||
13 | and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Following his service in the military, Robert | ||||||
15 | Coyle earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at | ||||||
16 | the University of Illinois and began his career at the | ||||||
17 | Caterpillar Tractor Company; he spent 35 years in sales and | ||||||
18 | marketing, representing Caterpillar all over North America and | ||||||
19 | as far away as Tokyo, Japan; he retired as the Global Sales | ||||||
20 | Manager in December of 1983; and

21 | WHEREAS, After retirement, Robert Coyle founded his own | ||||||
22 | company, the R.M. Coyle Company of Peoria, Inc. on January 2, |

1 | 1984; the company steadily grew, changing its name to the Coyle | ||||||
2 | Insurance Agency and finally merging with another company to | ||||||
3 | form Gallagher Coyle in Peoria; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Robert Coyle enjoyed spending time with family and | ||||||
5 | friends and playing golf at the Country Club of Peoria and at | ||||||
6 | clubs in Alabama and Arizona; he was a member of Rotary North | ||||||
7 | and a dedicated fan of the Chicago Bears and of all the | ||||||
8 | "Illini" teams; he was also a member of St. Philomena Parish; | ||||||
9 | and

10 | WHEREAS, Robert Coyle was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
11 | his son, Timothy Critchlow Coyle; his sisters, Margaret (Jack) | ||||||
12 | Bulger and Claire (Henry) Huser; and his brothers, William | ||||||
13 | (Joan), Phillip (Sally), and John (Susan) Coyle; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Robert Coyle is survived by his wife of more than | ||||||
15 | 65 years, Shirley; his children, Susan Marie (Richard) | ||||||
16 | Gualandi, Robert Michael (Lynn) Coyle, Bonnie Kathleen (Terry) | ||||||
17 | Essington, Peter Thomas (Katherine) Coyle, and Mary Colleen | ||||||
18 | (Christopher) Mathis; his 13 grandchildren; his 13 | ||||||
19 | great-grandchildren; and his sister, Alice (Dick) Healy; | ||||||
20 | therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |

2 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
