2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to | ||||||
3 | congratulate the West Central Co-op boys basketball team, the | ||||||
4 | Cougars, on winning the 2023-2024 Illinois High School | ||||||
5 | Association (IHSA) Class 1A State Championship; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The West Central Co-op boys basketball team is a | ||||||
7 | cooperative boys basketball team between Bluffs High School | ||||||
8 | and Winchester High School; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, The West Central Co-op boys basketball team | ||||||
10 | defeated the Meridian High School boys basketball team, the | ||||||
11 | Bobcats, in the final championship game with a score of 62 to | ||||||
12 | 43 at the State Farm Center in Champaign on March 9, 2024, | ||||||
13 | marking the first state championship victory in the co-op's | ||||||
14 | history as well as the school histories of Bluffs High School | ||||||
15 | and Winchester High School; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, The West Central Co-op boys basketball team | ||||||
17 | concluded the 2023-2024 season with a record of 36-3, earning | ||||||
18 | the most wins for a single season in the co-op's history and | ||||||
19 | the school histories of Bluffs High School and Winchester High | ||||||
20 | School; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, The West Central Co-op boys basketball team |

1 | further won all three of its regular season tournaments, the | ||||||
2 | Beardstown Thanksgiving Tournament, the Waverly Holiday | ||||||
3 | Tournament, and the 101st Winchester Invitational Tournament; | ||||||

5 | WHEREAS, The West Central Co-op boys basketball team was | ||||||
6 | also named the champion of the Western Illinois Valley | ||||||
7 | Conference (WIVC), remaining undefeated with a 9-0 record; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, The West Central Co-op boys basketball team | ||||||
9 | performed with passion, dedication, and love for the game; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, The West Central Co-op boys basketball team | ||||||
11 | includes seniors Mason Berry, Zack Evans, and Chance Little, | ||||||
12 | juniors Carson Brown, Zac Howard, Caden Meyer, and Cameron | ||||||
13 | Sievers, sophomores Carson Clevenger, Ryker Ford, and Nick | ||||||
14 | Hamilton, and freshmen Gabe Howard and Blayne Sidwell; and

15 | WHEREAS, The West Central Co-op boys basketball team is | ||||||
16 | led by Varsity Coach Ryan Sichting and Assistant Coaches Bill | ||||||
17 | Jacquot and Brady Slagle; therefore, be it
