2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Lorene Hull, who passed away on July 31, | ||||||
4 | 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lorene Hull was born on November 16, 1919 in | ||||||
6 | Ponca, Nebraska; her parents were William Harvey and Stella | ||||||
7 | Bridgford Bottorff; she married William Henry Hull on June 1, | ||||||
8 | 1942 in Ponca, Nebraska; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Lorene Hull grew up and graduated from high school | ||||||
10 | in Ponca, Nebraska; she began her teaching career in a one-room | ||||||
11 | schoolhouse; she later progressed to a 2-room school; she later | ||||||
12 | attended Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska and | ||||||
13 | graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, | ||||||
14 | where she earned a Bachelor of Science in education, followed | ||||||
15 | by a master's degree plus 60 hours; and

16 | WHEREAS, Lorene Hull was a homemaker when her children were | ||||||
17 | young, which included teaching Sunday School and the Ladies Aid | ||||||
18 | at Grace Lutheran Church in Champaign; she also made flower | ||||||
19 | arrangements from their garden and countless meals for both | ||||||
20 | joyous and sad occasions for friends and neighbors; when her | ||||||
21 | children were older, she returned to teaching at Leal School in | ||||||
22 | Urbana; she taught primary grades for 14 years and wrote |

1 | materials to help teachers teach reading which were published; | ||||||
2 | the royalties went to buy musical instruments, first for her | ||||||
3 | own children and later for students or other children she knew; | ||||||
4 | and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lorene Hull served as a volunteer at the Champaign | ||||||
6 | County Nursing Home; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Lorene Hull was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
8 | William; her parents; a brother; and a daughter, Marilee; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Lorene Hull is survived by 2 children, William | ||||||
10 | Dean Hull (Laura) and Marcia Hull Licquia (Jim); 3 | ||||||
11 | grandchildren, Heather Hull, Daren (Virna) Hull, and Dawnetta | ||||||
12 | (Christopher) Po; and 4 great-grandchildren, Jonathan Murphy, | ||||||
13 | Jillian Hull, Parker Hull, and Julia Po; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
16 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Lorene Hull; and be it | ||||||
17 | further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Lorene Hull as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | sympathy.
