SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Louis H. "Legs" Alegnani of Herrin, who
4passed away on June 2, 2010; and
5 WHEREAS, Louis Alegnani was born on May 29, 1920, in
6Herrin; his parents were Anthony "Tony" and Santina "Tennie"
7(Lavezzi) Alegnani; he married Isabel L. Cardani on June 18,
81941, in Herrin; and
9 WHEREAS, Louis Alegnani served his country with pride and
10distinction as a member of the United States Army during World
11War II; during the war, he served as the chief clerk of an
12ammunition depot in Europe; and
13 WHEREAS, Louis Alegnani was a retired loan supervisor for
14Finance America, a division of the Bank of America; he was also
15employed as a loan supervisor for GAC Finance and the White
16Loan Company in Herrin; and
17 WHEREAS, Louis Alegnani was a member of Our Lady of Mount
18Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin; he was a member of the
19Knights of Columbus Council 2164, having served as the
20council's Grand Knight; he was a former Exalted Ruler of Herrin
21Elks Lodge 1146 and a past president of the Herrin Rotary Club;

1he served on the Williamson County Board of the American Red
2Cross; he was a former member of the Herrin American Legion
3Post 645 and the Baker-Ladd VFW Post 1567 in Herrin; he also
4served as a state delegate for the Knights of Columbus National
5Convention and was one of the original members of the
6Herrinfesta organizing committee; and
7 WHEREAS, Louis Alegnani was preceded in death by his
8parents; and
9 WHEREAS, Louis Alegnani is survived by his wife of 69
10years, Isabel Alegnani; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and
11Karl Hammann; his sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Carol
12Alegnani and Rick and Elaine Alegnani; his grandchildren and
13their spouses, Doug and Jennifer Hammann, Donnie Hammann,
14Danette and Jack "J.R." Sartin, Lisa and Jason Bliss, John
15Alegnani and his fiancee, Jaime Kute, Paul and Laura Alegnani,
16and Lori Alegnani; and his 9 great-grandchildren; therefore, be
17it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
20his family and friends, the passing of Louis H. "Legs"
21Alegnani; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
