SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Roy E. Robinson of Springfield, who
4passed away on February 1, 2024; and
5 WHEREAS, Roy Robinson was born in Plattsburg, New York to
6Irvin and Mildred Robinson on March 8, 1927; he graduated from
7Champlain Central High School; he served in the U.S. Navy
8during World War II aboard the USS Wisconsin battleship; he
9graduated from Syracuse University in 1950, where he was a
10member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity; he married Harriet F. True
11in Syracuse, New York in 1951; he received his CPCU
12designation (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter) in
131960 and his CAE (Certified Association Executive) in 1975;
14and
15 WHEREAS, Roy Robinson worked as a special agent for the
16Transamerica Insurance Company for several years in Syracuse,
17New York and was the executive director of the Independent
18Insurance Agents of Illinois for 20 years; he retired in 1990;
19and
20 WHEREAS, Roy Robinson was past president of CPCU Chapters
21in Syracuse, New York and Bloomington, past president of the
22Illinois Society of Association Executives, and past president

1of the Independent Agents Association Executives; and
2 WHEREAS, Roy Robinson was a member of Springfield First
3United Methodist Church, the IBT Sunday School Class, the
4Chapel Church at Mesa Spirit, Arizona, the Chatham Masonic
5Lodge #523, the Ansar Shrine Parade Group, the Ansar Patrol,
6and the Ansar Retiree Club; and
7 WHEREAS, Roy Robinson and his wife lived in Chatham for 30
8years; during retirement, he and his wife spent 23 winters in
9Mesa, Arizona; he enjoyed playing golf and watching all
10sports, specifically his beloved Chicago Cubs; he also enjoyed
11playing cards, traveling, and spending time with his family;
12and
13 WHEREAS, Roy Robinson was honored to attend the September
142011 Land of Lincoln Honor Flight to Washington D.C.; and
15 WHEREAS, Roy Robinson is survived by his wife of 72 years,
16Harriet; his sons, Bruce (Delaine), Gary (Maria), and Roy Jr.
17(Jill); six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren with
18two more on the way; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Roy E. Robinson and extend our sincere condolences to his
