| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Donald A. Jacoby of Alton, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on May 22, 2010; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, He was born on April 11, 1927 in Alton, the son of | ||||||
6 | Phillip and Ruth (Herrmann) Jacoby; he married the former | ||||||
7 | Jacqueline A. "Jackie" Olsby on June 21, 1950; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, He attended Alton High School and Westminster | ||||||
9 | College in Fulton, Missouri; he belonged to the College Avenue | ||||||
10 | Presbyterian Church for 60 years and served as a trustee, | ||||||
11 | deacon, and elder; he was involved in scouting and the men's | ||||||
12 | breakfast at church as well; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, After high school he served in the United States | ||||||
14 | Navy during World War II as a Pharmacist Mate and Corpsman; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, He lived in the Alton area all his life; he was | ||||||
16 | the president and co-owner, with his cousin Jack Jacoby, of | ||||||
17 | Jacoby Furniture in Alton for 48 years; after the closing of | ||||||
18 | the store, they donated the building and it is now the Jacoby | ||||||
19 | Arts Center; and

20 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; |

1 | his son, Stephen Jacoby; and his brother, Monte Jacoby; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Donald Jacoby is survived by his son, Scott A. | ||||||
3 | Jacoby; his cousin, Jack Jacoby; his sister-in-law, Dolly | ||||||
4 | Olsby; and his special friend, Jan Hines; therefore, be it
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
7 | his family and friends, the passing of Donald Jacoby; and be it | ||||||
8 | further
| ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to the family of Donald Jacoby as a symbol of our | ||||||
11 | sincere sympathy.
