2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Fred Merle Strube Sr., formerly of | ||||||
4 | Peoria, who passed away on November 21, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Fred Strube was born in Peoria to Henry James and | ||||||
6 | Ida M. (Mitzelfelt) Strube on October 5, 1939; he married Cindy | ||||||
7 | Mechling; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Fred Strube was the owner and operator of Fred | ||||||
9 | Strube Automotive in Peoria for over 25 years; he then moved to | ||||||
10 | St. Cloud, Florida and opened Winner Air; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Fred Strube continued his love of cars during his | ||||||
12 | retirement; he built SCCA and GT-1 race cars for some of the | ||||||
13 | top drivers and was an avid stock car racer himself for over 40 | ||||||
14 | years; he is fondly remembered for his love of anything with an | ||||||
15 | engine and four wheels; and

16 | WHEREAS, Fred Strube was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
17 | and his brothers, Howard, Hank, Jim, John, and Floyd Strube; | ||||||
18 | and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Fred Strube is survived by his wife, Cindy; his | ||||||
20 | children, Karen (Mike) Getz, Fred (Lisa) Strube Jr., Darrell |

1 | (Debbie) Strube, and Stephanie Strube; his brother, Chuck | ||||||
2 | Strube; his sister, Darlene Reed Cornish; 13 grandchildren; and | ||||||
3 | 14 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Fred Merle Strube Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
8 | further

9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to the family of Fred Strube as an expression of our | ||||||
11 | deepest sympathy.
