SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lexie Kamerman of Chicago, who passed
4away on January 17, 2014 in Kabul, Afghanistan; and
5 WHEREAS, Lexie Kamerman was a 2008 graduate of Knox College
6in Galesburg, where she was an active and engaged student, with
7majors in Anthropology, Sociology, and Environmental Studies;
8she served as a leader in the Pi Beta Phi sorority and on the
9college's water polo team, carrying the team to the Collegiate
10Water Polo Association's Women's National Club championship;
11and
12 WHEREAS, Lexie Kamerman was a global citizen and went to
13Afghanistan following her graduation to help build the student
14development program at the American University; she trained
15women as resident assistants to help educate them to be the
16Afghan leaders of the future; and
17 WHEREAS, Lexie Kamerman was a deep thinker and a fearless
18advocate for a better world; and
19 WHEREAS, Lexie Kamerman was the beloved daughter of Alison
20Pohn and Jack McCarthy; the cherished niece of Jeff Pohn (Possy
21Holmes), Lisa (Jonathan) Levy, Julie (Adam) Pfeffer, Susan

1(Edward) Ocasek-Clayton; and the loving cousin of Gigi
2Braybrooks, Danny, Simon, Joey, and Henry Levy, and Ben, Will,
3and Molly Pfeffer; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Lexie Kamerman, and extend our sincere condolences to her
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
8further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Lexie Kamerman as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
