2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Emmer Jean Tucker of Lockport, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on November 5, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Emmer Tucker was born in Catron, Missouri to | ||||||
6 | Ulysses and Carrie Jean Miller-Mackins on November 27, 1939; as | ||||||
7 | a young child, her family relocated to Pulaski, where she | ||||||
8 | attended Bannaker School and Douglas High School in Mounds; she | ||||||
9 | married Joe Luster Tucker on December 26, 1959, and they | ||||||
10 | relocated to Lockport; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, After making her home in Lockport, Emmer Tucker | ||||||
12 | joined Shiloh M.B. Church, where she was an active member for | ||||||
13 | over 50 years; she was a member of the Young Matrons, the | ||||||
14 | Matrons, and the choir; she dedicated the majority of her time | ||||||
15 | to the youth nursery and had a special place in her heart for | ||||||
16 | all the children that came under her care; and

17 | WHEREAS, As her youngest child started school, Emmer Tucker | ||||||
18 | began work at the Fairmont School, where she had previously | ||||||
19 | been a part of PTA and continued serving in many capacities; | ||||||
20 | she loved to cook and was well known for her homemade ice cream | ||||||
21 | and German chocolate cakes; and

1 | WHEREAS, Emmer Tucker was preceded in death by her parents, | ||||||
2 | Ulysses Miller and Cecil and Carrie Mackins; her son, Joe L. | ||||||
3 | Tucker Jr.; her grandson, Joevelus Tucker; her brothers, Robert | ||||||
4 | Earl Mackins, Herbert Van Mackins, and Cecil Eugene Mackins; | ||||||
5 | her sister, Florence Ann Roddy; her mother-in-law and | ||||||
6 | father-in-law, Curtis and Freddie Mae Tucker; her | ||||||
7 | brothers-in-law, Curtis, Jesse, Ronald, and Randy Tucker; and | ||||||
8 | her sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Sharpe-Matthews; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Emmer Tucker is survived by her husband of almost | ||||||
10 | 60 years, Joe; her son, Derwin Tucker; her daughters, Yolanda | ||||||
11 | (Reginald) Hulittle, and Annette Tucker and Carmen (Lovely) | ||||||
12 | Walker; her 12 grandchildren, Jovan (Corey) Holder, Sir Joseph | ||||||
13 | (Erica) Tucker, Valencia Tucker, Jessica Tucker, Joe Tucker | ||||||
14 | III, Victoria (Reggie) Smith, Kadejah Dorris, Kameron Tucker, | ||||||
15 | Kennedi Hulittle, Elyjah Bailey, McKenzi Hulittle, and Zion | ||||||
16 | Tucker; her great-grandchildren, Jaydon Noel, Jayla Holder, | ||||||
17 | Olivia Pittman, Camille Holder, Jerzi Ramirez, Zahavah Bailey, | ||||||
18 | Corey Holder Jr., and Reggie Smith Jr.; many friends; her extra | ||||||
19 | special friend, Katie Ulmer; and numerous nieces and nephews; | ||||||

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
23 | Emmer Jean Tucker and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
24 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
