2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Raymond "Pete" Fontenoy of East | ||||||
4 | Moline, who passed away on February 16, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was born to Raymond and Alice | ||||||
6 | (Langston) Fontenoy in Rock Island on June 18, 1943; he served | ||||||
7 | in the U.S. Army; he married Bonnie (Greer) Thomas in Moline on | ||||||
8 | August 14, 1999; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy worked at International Harvester | ||||||
10 | for 32 years, retiring in 1998; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was a member of Abiding Hope | ||||||
12 | Lutheran Church in Ocala, Florida; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, | ||||||
14 | and, in his earlier years, competitive archery, coming in | ||||||
15 | second place at the PAA National Archery Tournament in 1982; | ||||||
16 | he and his wife, Bonnie, enjoyed wintering in Florida, where | ||||||
17 | they made many friends and were involved in several | ||||||
18 | activities, especially golfing; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was known as "Mr. Pete" by all the | ||||||
20 | neighborhood children for always being willing to fix anything |

1 | for them and teach them about nature; he will be remembered as | ||||||
2 | an amazing, kind, warm, and generous man; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was preceded in death by his | ||||||
4 | parents; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy is survived by his wife; his | ||||||
6 | stepsons, Steve (Pam) Thomas and Tim Thomas; his | ||||||
7 | step-grandchildren, Robbie, Janna, and Lance; five | ||||||
8 | great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Lyn (John) Minder; his | ||||||
9 | brother, Tom Fontenoy; several nieces; and his cat, Izzy; | ||||||
10 | therefore, be it

11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
13 | Raymond "Pete" Fontenoy and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
14 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
