SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Raymond "Pete" Fontenoy of East
4Moline, who passed away on February 16, 2024; and
5 WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was born to Raymond and Alice
6(Langston) Fontenoy in Rock Island on June 18, 1943; he served
7in the U.S. Army; he married Bonnie (Greer) Thomas in Moline on
8August 14, 1999; and
9 WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy worked at International Harvester
10for 32 years, retiring in 1998; and
11 WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was a member of Abiding Hope
12Lutheran Church in Ocala, Florida; and
13 WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting,
14and, in his earlier years, competitive archery, coming in
15second place at the PAA National Archery Tournament in 1982;
16he and his wife, Bonnie, enjoyed wintering in Florida, where
17they made many friends and were involved in several
18activities, especially golfing; and
19 WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was known as "Mr. Pete" by all the
20neighborhood children for always being willing to fix anything

1for them and teach them about nature; he will be remembered as
2an amazing, kind, warm, and generous man; and
3 WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was preceded in death by his
4parents; and
5 WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy is survived by his wife; his
6stepsons, Steve (Pam) Thomas and Tim Thomas; his
7step-grandchildren, Robbie, Janna, and Lance; five
8great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Lyn (John) Minder; his
9brother, Tom Fontenoy; several nieces; and his cat, Izzy;
10therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Raymond "Pete" Fontenoy and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
