| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Dean R. Grimm of Morton, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on June 17, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dean Grimm was born in Peoria on November 23, 1943 | ||||||
6 | to William, Jr. and Eula (nee Yoder) Grimm; he graduated from
| ||||||
7 | Morton High School and attended Southern Illinois University in | ||||||
8 | Carbondale; he served with the United States Army Reserve | ||||||
9 | during the Vietnam War and married Sara F. (nee Parker)
| ||||||
10 | Haferkamp on January 15, 1971 in Morton; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dean Grimm began working in the family business, | ||||||
12 | Grimm TV & Appliance; he eventually purchased the business
from | ||||||
13 | his father and owned, operated, and managed stores in Morton, | ||||||
14 | Washington, Bloomington, and Peoria; during those years in | ||||||
15 | business, he traveled around the world with General
Electric, | ||||||
16 | RCA, Zenith, Fisher-Paykel, and other companies; he joined the | ||||||
17 | Marta Buying Group of US Appliance Dealers, eventually becoming | ||||||
18 | Vice-President of the board and serving on it until his | ||||||
19 | retirement from the Grimm TV & Appliance, which existed for 78 | ||||||
20 | years; he retired in 2000 at the age of 56 and began a career in | ||||||
21 | realty and
property development; and

22 | WHEREAS, Dean Grimm served on the Morton Planning |

1 | Commission; he was active in the Rotary Club for years and also | ||||||
2 | the Morton Chamber of Commerce, serving 3 terms as
chamber | ||||||
3 | President; he was elected to the Tazewell County Board in 1996, | ||||||
4 | serving for 19 years; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dean Grimm was preceded in death by his parents, | ||||||
6 | and his 2 brothers, Jack and Ronald; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Dean Grimm is survived by his wife, Sara; his | ||||||
8 | children, Cristi (Doug) Schaffnit, Cesli (Gino)
Vaccaro, and | ||||||
9 | William Derek (Jenna) Grimm; his 8 grandchildren, Katie
(Paul) | ||||||
10 | Velting, Lindsay Mathers, Kelly Schaffnit, Ryan Schaffnit, | ||||||
11 | Isaiah Vaccaro, Rachel Vaccaro, Myah
Grimm, and Zach Grimm; and | ||||||
12 | his sister, Diane Grimm; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Dean R. Grimm, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
16 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
17 | further
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Dean Grimm as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | deepest sympathy.
