| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Philip D. Garrett of Gillespie, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on April 11, 2010; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Philip D. Garrett was born January 10, 1926, in | ||||||
6 | Haydock, Iowa, the son of Carl F. Garrett and Nettie (Farley) | ||||||
7 | Garrett; he married Rosalie (Valerio) Garrett on March 10, | ||||||
8 | 1962, in Benld; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, He retired from teaching grade school in | ||||||
10 | Gillespie, high school in Bunker Hill, and as a guidance | ||||||
11 | counselor from Bunker Hill; he was also a principal at Bunker | ||||||
12 | Hil; in addition, he was a school evaluation specialist for the | ||||||
13 | State of Illinois and later for the Regional Office of | ||||||
14 | Education; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, He was a World War II veteran, serving as sonarman | ||||||
16 | aboard the Walter B. Cobb; he was a former treasurer of the | ||||||
17 | city of Gillespie, a member of the VFW Post 4547 of Gillespie, | ||||||
18 | and an avid sports fan; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Philip Garrett is survived by his wife, Rosalie; |

1 | his three daughters, Jennifer Garrett, Patricia Garrett, and | ||||||
2 | Theresa Beebe; his two grandchildren, Raymond J. Beebe and | ||||||
3 | Jessica Rose Hammon; his two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Beebe | ||||||
4 | and Josephine Beebe; and his sister, Mary Ellen Mitchell; | ||||||
5 | therefore, be it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
8 | his family and friends, the passing of Philip Garrett; and be | ||||||
9 | it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Philip Garrett as a symbol of our | ||||||
12 | sincere sympathy.
