SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Carol R. Marks of Wood River, who passed
away on July 22, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Carol Marks was born in Wood River to Paul and
Lucille (Davis) Heathcott on August 14, 1936; and
WHEREAS, Carol Marks retired as an office clerk with the
Madison County Recorder of Deeds; and
WHEREAS, Carol Marks was a member of the Bethalto Church of
God, where she taught the Senior Sunday School class for
several years; and
WHEREAS, Carol Marks was preceded in death by her parents;
her son, Eddie Marks; her former husband, Bill Marks; her
stepmother, Harriott Heathcott; and her brother-in-law, Edwin
Marks; and
WHEREAS, Carol Marks is survived by her daughter, Paula
(Tom) Carach; her sons, Fred Marks, Marty (Julie) Marks, and
Harry (Barb) Marks; nine grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; her brothers, Ron Heathcott and Dale
(Susie) Heathcott; her uncle and aunt, Jim and Katie Davis; her

aunt, Barbara Edgar; her sister-in-law, Pat Marks; her dear
friend who was like a sister, Rachel Wiggins; and several
nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Carol R. Marks, and extend our sincere condolences to her
family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Carol Marks as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
