SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Rachel Myers Gibson, who passed away on
October 25, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Gibson graduated from Willowbrook High
School, participating in golf, student council, and the
literary magazine while there; she attended Elmhurst College as
a communications and political science major, where she sang
with the women's choir and participated in a multitude of
service projects and joined the Sigma Kappa sorority; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Gibson spent many years as a Bible school
teacher and loved singing with the Anima Young Singers,
including performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, a
July 4th concert at Millennium Park, and a Make-A-Wish benefit
at Wells Cathedral in England; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Gibson worked on many political campaigns
and was a relentless advocate for children with special
healthcare needs; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Gibson was an avid animal lover and her
biggest attachments were her horse and dogs; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Gibson's plan was to change the world and
those that met her believed that she could do just that;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Rachel Myers Gibson, and extend our sincere condolences to her
family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Rachel Gibson as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
