2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Allie J. "Jay" Meyers of Rock Island, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 12, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was born on January 14, 1924 in | ||||||
6 | Louisiana, Missouri; his parents were Rudolph and Alice (nee | ||||||
7 | Pitzer) Meyers; he married Gloria Gibbs-Chambers on September | ||||||
8 | 1, 1967; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Allie Meyers served his country as a member of the | ||||||
10 | United States Coast Guard during World War II, serving on the | ||||||
11 | USS Ricketts; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was employed as an operating engineer | ||||||
13 | at the former Moline Consumers for many years; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was a devoted fan of the St. Louis | ||||||
15 | Cardinals; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
17 | a son, Pat; and 5 siblings, Everett, Clay, Lorene, Mildred, and | ||||||
18 | Charles; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Allie Meyers is survived by his devoted wife of 47 |

1 | years, Gloria; 5 children, Joe, Mike, Susie, Kathy, and Teri; | ||||||
2 | his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and | ||||||
3 | great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nellie and Mary; and his | ||||||
4 | many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Tom; | ||||||
5 | therefore, be it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
8 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Allie J. "Jay" Meyers; | ||||||
9 | and be it further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Allie Meyers as an expression of our | ||||||
