SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Allie J. "Jay" Meyers of Rock Island, who
4passed away on February 12, 2015; and
5 WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was born on January 14, 1924 in
6Louisiana, Missouri; his parents were Rudolph and Alice (nee
7Pitzer) Meyers; he married Gloria Gibbs-Chambers on September
81, 1967; and
9 WHEREAS, Allie Meyers served his country as a member of the
10United States Coast Guard during World War II, serving on the
11USS Ricketts; and
12 WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was employed as an operating engineer
13at the former Moline Consumers for many years; and
14 WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was a devoted fan of the St. Louis
15Cardinals; and
16 WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was preceded in death by his parents;
17a son, Pat; and 5 siblings, Everett, Clay, Lorene, Mildred, and
18Charles; and
19 WHEREAS, Allie Meyers is survived by his devoted wife of 47

1years, Gloria; 5 children, Joe, Mike, Susie, Kathy, and Teri;
2his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
3great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nellie and Mary; and his
4many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Tom;
5therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Allie J. "Jay" Meyers;
9and be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Allie Meyers as an expression of our
12sympathy.
