2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Henry Kirke Cushing II of Oak Park, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on December 21, 2020 at the age of 78; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Henry Cushing was born in Boston, Massachusetts | ||||||
6 | on May 12, 1942; he served in the U.S. Air Force; he attended | ||||||
7 | the University of Arizona; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Henry Cushing began his career in television at | ||||||
9 | KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona; he continued on this professional | ||||||
10 | path whenever he relocated to a new city, which included | ||||||
11 | working at WHDH-TV and WCVP-TV in Boston and sharing his | ||||||
12 | talents with Warner Cable in Columbus, Ohio; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Henry Cushing moved to Chicago in 1979, where he | ||||||
14 | served as manager of Electronic News Gathering at WLS-TV for | ||||||
15 | the next 22 years until his retirement in 2001; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Throughout his career and during retirement, | ||||||
17 | Henry Cushing was an active presence in his community; he | ||||||
18 | relished spending time with the Boy Scouts of America and | ||||||
19 | supporting local charities and churches; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Henry Cushing was well-known for his kindness and |

1 | generosity, and he carried those attributes into all of his | ||||||
2 | social interactions; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Henry Cushing was preceded in death by his | ||||||
4 | parents, Henry Kirke and Marjorie Estabrook Cushing, and his | ||||||
5 | brothers, William H., Reed E., and Michael C.; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Henry Cushing was | ||||||
7 | survived by his wife, Janet Jackson Cushing; his sons, David | ||||||
8 | (Audra Alessandrone) Jackson and Henry Kirke (Meg Holding) | ||||||
9 | Cushing III; and his grandchildren, Jackson and Lucy; | ||||||
10 | therefore, be it

11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
13 | Henry Kirke Cushing II and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
14 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
