2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Patrick Raymond Hegarty of Oak Park, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on April 21, 2023 at 56 years old; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Patrick Hegarty was born to Edward and Mary | ||||||
6 | Frances Hegarty in Oak Park on October 31, 1966; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Oak Park River Forest High School; he then enlisted in the | ||||||
8 | U.S. Marine Corps, serving four years as a rifleman; he was | ||||||
9 | stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina and at the Naval | ||||||
10 | Submarine Base New London in Groton, Connecticut, among other | ||||||
11 | assignments and locations; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Patrick Hegarty married Catherine Helmke on | ||||||
13 | August 11, 1990; they had two daughters, Erica and Stephanie; | ||||||
14 | and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Patrick Hegarty spent most of his professional | ||||||
16 | career at McDonald's, where he earned the President's Award, | ||||||
17 | which acknowledges the top 1% of employees; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Patrick Hegarty was known in his family for his | ||||||
19 | bad jokes and animated recitation of "The Cremation of Sam | ||||||
20 | McGee", both inspired by his Uncle Ray; and

1 | WHEREAS, Patrick Hegarty enjoyed spending time outdoors | ||||||
2 | and traveling to national parks, specifically Arches National | ||||||
3 | Park, even naming his camper van "Archie"; and

4 | WHEREAS, Patrick Hegarty was preceded in death by his | ||||||
5 | parents and his brother-in-law, Joseph Williams; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Patrick Hegarty is survived by his wife; his | ||||||
7 | daughters, Erica (Thurman) Fogleman and Stephanie; his | ||||||
8 | brothers, Edward (Cindy), Michael (Diane), Daniel (Kathy), | ||||||
9 | Christopher (Amy Nelson), and Terrence; his sisters, Maureen | ||||||
10 | (Dan) Kruszynski, RoseAnn (Jim) Vonesh, Kathleen (Robert) | ||||||
11 | Burdett, Mary Pat (Joseph) Williams, and Mary Rose (Gerard) | ||||||
12 | Crimmins; and his nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Patrick Raymond Hegarty and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
16 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
17 | further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Patrick Hegarty as an expression of | ||||||
