2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Donald D. "Don" Evans of Ellsworth, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on June 14, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Don Evans was born in Arrowsmith to Wilkins "Jack" | ||||||
6 | and Floss Sutton Evans on October 31, 1931; stationed in Linz, | ||||||
7 | Austria, he served as a military police officer in the United | ||||||
8 | States Army from 1952 until 1954; he married Lois Kaufman in | ||||||
9 | Heyworth on May 21, 1960; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Don Evans served as the Dawson Township Road | ||||||
11 | Commissioner for four terms; he managed the Ellsworth Grain Co. | ||||||
12 | from 1974 until 1982; he was a Realtor from 1982 until 2005; | ||||||
13 | and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Don Evans was a member of the Heyworth Christian | ||||||
15 | Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee; he was a | ||||||
16 | charter member of the American Legion Post 1244, Ellsworth and | ||||||
17 | a fireman for the Ellsworth Fire Department; he also served on | ||||||
18 | the Dawson Cemetery Board of Directors; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Don Evans was preceded in death by his parents and | ||||||
20 | his brothers, Edgar Lee Evans and James Evans; and

1 | WHEREAS, Don Evans is survived by his wife, Lois; his | ||||||
2 | daughter, Janine "Jan" Evans; and his many nieces and nephews; | ||||||
3 | therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Donald D. "Don" Evans and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
8 | further
| ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to the family of Don Evans as an expression of our | ||||||
11 | deepest sympathy.
