2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Percy Lee McGee, Jr.; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. was born on October 7, 1947, | ||||||
5 | at Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri; his | ||||||
6 | parents were Percy Lee McGee, Sr. and Susie Lou McGee; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. attended Marshall and Turner | ||||||
8 | Middle Schools; he began shining shoes at the age of 12 years | ||||||
9 | old and shined the shoes of Dick Gregory and many other famous | ||||||
10 | people; he subsequently graduated from Vashon High School | ||||||
11 | (originally Hadley Technical High School) in St. Louis, | ||||||
12 | Missouri before graduating from Bailey Technical School in | ||||||
13 | 1976; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. served in the United States | ||||||
15 | Army until his honorable discharge in 1968; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. was employed as a barber in | ||||||
17 | East St. Louis for 30 years; he then worked at the United | ||||||
18 | States Postal Service in St. Louis, Missouri until his | ||||||
19 | retirement; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. will be dearly missed by his |

1 | wife, Eula Dee McGee, whom he married on February 9, 1969, in | ||||||
2 | St. Louis, Missouri; his children and their spouses, Samantha | ||||||
3 | (Tyler) Hinton, Zeran (Kendra) McGee, Armonda Fisher, LaDrena | ||||||
4 | McGee, and Derryl Fisher; and his 15 grandchildren and 2 | ||||||
5 | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
8 | his family and friends, the passing of Percy Lee McGee, Jr.; | ||||||
9 | and be it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Percy Lee McGee, Jr. as an | ||||||
12 | expression of our sympathy.
