| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Jean Pistorius Kallal of Jerseyville, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on August 16, 2009; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, She was born on February 23, 1930 in Peoria, the | ||||||
6 | daughter of the late William R. and Mildred (Followell) | ||||||
7 | Shivers; she married Virgil Pistorius in 1950 and he passed | ||||||
8 | away in 1967; she later married Louis Gorman, who passed away | ||||||
9 | in 1980; she later married Valentine Kallal in 1996; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, She spent 30 years in the radio and newspaper | ||||||
11 | business; she worked at WJBM Radio in Jerseyville and later | ||||||
12 | became a reporter for the Alton Telegraph; she was the editor | ||||||
13 | of the Democrat News in Jerseyville and retired in 1996 from | ||||||
14 | the News Journal; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic | ||||||
16 | Church and the Altar Society; she was a member of the Jersey | ||||||
17 | County Chamber of Commerce, as well as their Ambassadors; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, She was a member of many boards, including the | ||||||
19 | American Cancer Society and American Red Cross; she served as | ||||||
20 | the Jersey County representative on the Private Industry | ||||||
21 | Council and co-chaired the Jerseyville 1984 Sesquicentennial |

1 | booklet and publicity committee; she was a Girl Scout leader; | ||||||
2 | she was a member of the Jersey County Republicans; and served | ||||||
3 | as an election judge in Jersey County; and

4 | WHEREAS, She is survived by her husband, Valentine; her | ||||||
5 | children, Mark Pistorius, Stephen (Mary) Pistorius, Kurt (Eve) | ||||||
6 | Pistorius, Carol (Gary) Robeen, Dianna (Cliff) Bigelow, Eric | ||||||
7 | (Lisa) Pistorius, Laurie (David) Petras, and Lisa (Joe) Scott; | ||||||
8 | her grandchildren, Nicolas, Emily, and Andrew Pistorius, Matt, | ||||||
9 | Rachel, and Sarah Pistorius, Amanda Pistorius, Jeramy and | ||||||
10 | Ashley Robeen, Ben and Lauren Bigelow, Jessica Hansen, Heather | ||||||
11 | Pinter, Tyler Pistorius, Jacob Petras, Danielle Porter, Julia | ||||||
12 | and Jenna Leitner; her great-granddaughter, Mila Williams; and | ||||||
13 | her sisters, Rosalie Gorden, Mary Joye, and JoAnn Newland; | ||||||

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
17 | her family and friends, the passing of Jean Pistorius Kallal; | ||||||
18 | and be it further
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Jean Pistorius Kallal as a symbol of | ||||||
21 | our sincere sympathy.
