SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dorothy D. Mosley, who passed away on
4April 14, 2015; and
5 WHEREAS, Dorothy Mosley was born on August 11, 1936 in
6Camden, Mississippi; her parents were Joe and Mary Ellen
7Douglas; and
8 WHEREAS, After completing high school, Dorothy Mosley
9moved to Chicago, where she met and married the love of her
10life, Henry L. Mosley on July 18, 1959; and
11 WHEREAS, After retiring from Abbott Laboratories after
12many years of service, Dorothy Mosley began her own daycare
13business, where her great of children endeared her to countless
14boys and girls; and
15 WHEREAS, Dorothy Mosley was raised in the church and was
16baptized at an early age; she hailed from a family of singers
17and enjoyed singing at church services; she flourished under
18the spiritual leadership of Rev. Michael L. Pfleger, whom she
19loved as a son; in 1970, she and her husband joined the Faith
20Community of St. Sabina, where she was relentless in her faith
21and commitment to the church; she served in various ministries,

1including the Women's Club, the KPC Ladies Auxiliary,
2Eucharistic Ministers, the Sisterhood, Intercessory Prayer,
3Lectors and Commentators, and Ministry of Care; and
4 WHEREAS, Dorothy Mosley was preceded in death by her
5husband, Henry, and her son, Andre; and
6 WHEREAS, Dorothy Mosley is survived by her son, Demetrious
7(Tina) Mosley; her daughter, Nicole Love; her daughter-in-law,
8Tracey Otis-Mosley; her brother-in-law, Arthur Griffin; 3
9grandsons, Carl, Demetrious, Jr., and Darius; 3
10granddaughters, Jaya, Jessica, and Tara; and her many nieces,
11nephews, and dear friends; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
14family and friends, mourn the passing of Dorothy D. Mosley; and
15be it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Dorothy Mosley as an expression of
18our sympathy.
