2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of James E. "Ed" Lawson of Rock Island, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on April 17, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, James Lawson was born in Gauley Bridge, West | ||||||
6 | Virginia to James G. and Frances I. McClellan Lawson on | ||||||
7 | September 28, 1920; he served in the United States Navy during | ||||||
8 | World War II in the South Pacific; he was awarded a Purple | ||||||
9 | Heart for wounds received in action; he married Faye J. Vetter | ||||||
10 | at the Church of Peace United Church of Christ in Rock Island | ||||||
11 | on March 19, 1950; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, James Lawson worked as a crane operator and later | ||||||
13 | farmed in the Milan area; he was also a dealer for Heritage | ||||||
14 | Fencing; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, James Lawson was a past president of the Rock | ||||||
16 | Island County Farm Bureau; he was a member of Reynolds American | ||||||
17 | Legion Post 1166, Aledo VFW Post 1571, and Rock Island County | ||||||
18 | Voiture No. 237 of the 40 & 8; and

19 | WHEREAS, James Lawson was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
20 | his brothers, Everett, Elmer, Bert, Jeff, Harold, Roy, Paul, | ||||||
21 | Darrell, and Arthur; and his sisters, Gladys and Irene Hampton; |

2 | WHEREAS, James Lawson is survived by his wife, Faye; his | ||||||
3 | sisters, Beulah Sloan, and Sally Doss; and numerous nieces and | ||||||
4 | nephews; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | James E. "Ed" Lawson, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
9 | further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of James Lawson as an expression of our | ||||||
12 | deepest sympathy.
