SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Mary Britts of Alton, who passed away on
4 September 5, 2009; and
5 WHEREAS, Mary Britts was born on June 6, 1922 in Clayton,
6 Missouri; her parents were Mary and Gale Wilkinson; she married
7 Charles W. Britts Jr. in 1945 in Alton; and
8 WHEREAS, Mary Britts was a prize-winning gardener; she was
9 known for her intricate flower gardens, landscaping, and fish
10 ponds; she was also an award-winning artist who specialized in
11 oils and watercolors; and
12 WHEREAS, Mary Britts was preceded in death by her husband,
13 Charles; her sister, Eleanor Wilkinson; and her nephew, Monte
14 Britts; and
15 WHEREAS, Mary Britts is survived by her daughters, Marie
16 Schickedanz, Rita Hillman, and Theresa and David Simonds; her
17 grandchildren, Dene and Tina Schickedanz, Dr. Aimee and Scott
18 Browne, and Nicholas and Elizabeth Hillman; her
19 great-grandsons, Landen and Spencer Schickedanz; her brother
20 and sister-in-law, Albert J. and Sallee Wilkinson; and her
21 nieces and nephews, Lisa Habib, Michael Wilkinson, David

2 Jr.; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
5 her family and friends, the passing of Mary Britts; and be it
6 further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to the family of Mary Britts as an expression of our
9 sympathy.
