2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Shirley Jeanne Harper of Franklin, | ||||||
4 | Wisconsin, formerly of Fairfield, who passed away on May 1, | ||||||
5 | 2023; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Shirley Harper was born to Alvin G. Adler and | ||||||
7 | Barbara Stewart on April 21, 1935; as a child, she was raised | ||||||
8 | by various family members in Wisconsin and Chicago during the | ||||||
9 | Great Depression; she married Robert Wicinski, and they had | ||||||
10 | six children before divorcing; she later married Lee Harper; | ||||||
11 | and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Shirley and Lee Harper ran a campground in | ||||||
13 | southern Illinois, where they hosted square dancing in the | ||||||
14 | pavilion, fish fries, pig roasts, and Fall Fun Fest; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Shirley Harper, after the campground closed, | ||||||
16 | worked for public aid
in Illinois for many years; during her | ||||||
17 | tenure, she received great satisfaction in assisting those in | ||||||
18 | need and created a family of coworkers; after retiring, she | ||||||
19 | moved to Franklin, Wisconsin; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Shirley Harper enjoyed having good conversations | ||||||
21 | about the world, history, food, sports, and family updates; |

1 | she loved quilting and created many quilts that were given to | ||||||
2 | family and friends; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Shirley Harper was affectionately known as "GG"; | ||||||
4 | she will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, | ||||||
5 | grandmother, and great-grandmother; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Shirley Harper was preceded in death by her son, | ||||||
7 | Steven Wicinski; her parents; and her husband, Lee Harper; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Shirley Harper is survived by her children, Greg | ||||||
9 | (Daria) Wicinski, Rhonda (Gary) Shedron, Brian (Mary) | ||||||
10 | Wicinski, Michael (Sherry) Wicinski, Therese (Tim) Wicinski | ||||||
11 | Shaffer, and Robert Wicinski; her grandchildren, Anthony | ||||||
12 | Wicinski, Rachael (Matthew) Unverferth, Keegan (Huijiao | ||||||
13 | "Jess") Tomik, Kyle Tomik, Hayden Wicinski, Colton Wicinski, | ||||||
14 | Erica (fiancé, Andrew) Wicinski, Alexandrea (partner, Kevin) | ||||||
15 | Wicinski, and Devin Wicinski; and her great-grandchildren, | ||||||
16 | Haley and Aiden Wicinski, Hudson, Nash, and Wells Unverferth, | ||||||

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Shirley Jeanne Harper and extend our sincere
condolences to | ||||||
21 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
