| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Eleanor Karin Seegren, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | November 29, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Seegren was born in Chicago on November | ||||||
6 | 16, 1929 and graduated from Roosevelt High School; she attended | ||||||
7 | Wright Junior College and earned a teaching degree; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Seegren taught elementary school; she was | ||||||
9 | a third grade teacher at Spring Bluff Elementary in Winthrop | ||||||
10 | Harbor and an art teacher at Our Lady of Humility Catholic | ||||||
11 | School; she worked as a substitute teacher for several Lake | ||||||
12 | County school districts until the age of 79; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Seegren served as activity director at | ||||||
14 | Crown Manor Nursing Home in Zion, Terrace Nursing Home in | ||||||
15 | Waukegan, and Sheridan Health Care Center in Zion; she was also | ||||||
16 | a caseworker for the Illinois Department of Public Aid and a | ||||||
17 | childcare referral counselor for the YWCA in Waukegan; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Seegren and her husband attended Immanuel | ||||||
19 | Baptist Church in Waukegan and then helped establish the Bonnie | ||||||
20 | Brook Baptist Church; she was involved with the Child | ||||||
21 | Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) and hosted a Good News Club in her |

1 | home for neighborhood children; she served on the local CEF | ||||||
2 | committee and eventually became director of the Northeast | ||||||
3 | Illinois CEF chapter; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Seegren used her creative skills to make | ||||||
5 | specialty craft items for teaching children and was known for | ||||||
6 | the kitchen Tidy Towels she designed; she was also known for | ||||||
7 | her cheerful greetings and engaging conversations; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Seegren was preceded in death by her | ||||||
9 | parents; her husband of 58 years, Walter R. Seegren; her | ||||||
10 | brother, Stanley; and her sister, Ruth; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Seegren is survived by her daughter, Kris | ||||||
12 | Seegren, and her sons, Randy and Ken (Janet) Seegren; | ||||||
13 | therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Eleanor Karin Seegren and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
17 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
18 | further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Eleanor Seegren as an expression of | ||||||
21 | our deepest sympathy.
