| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of
Ricky Lee Randolph, who passed away on | ||||||
| 4 | August 24, 2011; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph was born on November 2, 1963, | ||||||
| 6 | in Chicago; his parents were Sylvester and Fannie Randolph; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph graduated from Mason | ||||||
| 8 | Elementary and Farragut High School; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph was baptized at an early age by | ||||||
| 10 | the late Reverend George Clark; in his final months, he began | ||||||
| 11 | attending worship services at New Life Covenant Church under | ||||||
| 12 | the leadership of Senior Pastor John F. Hannah; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph worked in the conference center | ||||||
| 14 | at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis since 1997; he served as | ||||||
| 15 | the supervisor of a team of five who worked for Compass Group, | ||||||
| 16 | a food services company; he was well loved and respected by his | ||||||
| 17 | co-workers and the lawyers at the firm; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph loved to cook; his passion for | ||||||
| 19 | food led him to start his own company, Ricky Randolph Catering; | ||||||
| 20 | he began his business by selling dinners in the community; | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | through word of mouth, Ricky's business grew by leaps and | ||||||
| 2 | bounds; Ricky cooked for judges, lawyers, dignitaries, the cast | ||||||
| 3 | and crew of numerous Broadway productions, including The Lion | ||||||
| 4 | King, Mary Poppins, and The Color Purple, and his family and | ||||||
| 5 | friends; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph was well known for his Ricky | ||||||
| 7 | Randolph & Friends Annual White Party, which brought his | ||||||
| 8 | community together each summer for one night of Hollywood in an | ||||||
| 9 | urban milieu; the White Party was Ricky's gift of love to the | ||||||
| 10 | Lawndale community and he spared no expenses in this display of | ||||||
| 11 | excellence; the event helped to raise funds to produce the 1400 | ||||||
| 12 | and 1500 blocks of South Kenneth's Annual Back-to-School Block | ||||||
| 13 | Club Party and offset the costs for purchasing book bags and | ||||||
| 14 | school supplies for children in the community; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 16 | brothers, Sylvester Jr. and James; his sister, Diane; and his | ||||||
| 17 | parents; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph is survived by his sisters, | ||||||
| 19 | Barbara (Thomas), Sherain (Maurice), Vickie (Joseph), and | ||||||
| 20 | Tajuana (William); his brother, Kenneth; his daughter, Shakita | ||||||
| 21 | Thurman; his uncles, Willie, Chester, Clarence, Aubrey, and | ||||||
| 22 | George; his nieces, Shunvonner, LaShunda, Sheri, Keneata, | ||||||
| 23 | Kewana, Tameika, Terinika, Jasmine, and Joy; his nephews, | ||||||

| 1 | Sylvester III, Thomas, Will, Fontaine, Terry, Willie, Kenard, | ||||||
| 2 | Joseph, Josh, Kenneth, Keshon, and Marcus; and his many | ||||||
| 3 | great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and | ||||||
| 4 | great-great nephews, special siblings, other family members, | ||||||
| 5 | and special friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 8 | his family and friends, the passing of Ricky Lee Randolph; and | ||||||
| 9 | be it further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to the family of Ricky Lee Randolph as an expression | ||||||
| 12 | of our sympathy.
