| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Gale D. Beekman of Ipava, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on March 12, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Gale Beekman was born to Willis F. and Marjorie | ||||||
6 | L. (Thompson) Beekman in Ipava on December 23, 1946; he served | ||||||
7 | as a specialist 4 in the U.S. Army and was stationed stateside | ||||||
8 | during the Vietnam War; he married Annie Stambaugh in Canton | ||||||
9 | on August 7, 2004; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Gale Beekman began his professional career | ||||||
11 | working at Fiat-Allis in Bluff City before working as a | ||||||
12 | salesman for Moorman Feed; he then began his insurance career, | ||||||
13 | becoming an agent for Country Companies; he later became owner | ||||||
14 | and operator of the Insurance Center in Havana for over 30 | ||||||
15 | years; he also assisted in the auctioneer business with his | ||||||
16 | son, Chad; and

17 | WHEREAS, Gale Beekman was a member of the Masonic Lodge in | ||||||
18 | Havana and Astoria American Legion Post #25, where he was a | ||||||
19 | past commander; he was a member of Summum Christian Church, | ||||||
20 | where he also served on the church board; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Gale Beekman enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, |

1 | camping, hunting mushrooms, and caring for his farm; he also | ||||||
2 | enjoyed traveling, both in the United States and abroad; he | ||||||
3 | was an avid horseman, training and trail riding his Tennessee | ||||||
4 | Walkers; and

5 | WHEREAS, Gale Beekman is survived by his wife; his | ||||||
6 | children, Stacey (Richard) Meehan, Brad (Bambi) Beekman, Chad | ||||||
7 | (Heather) Beekman, Kelly (Tom) Carlock, and Rachel (Clint) | ||||||
8 | Laethem; his grandchildren, Zeke (Lauren Krohe) Meehan, Zeb | ||||||
9 | Meehan, Macey (Lucas) Utter, Gage (Alex Silvola) Beekman, | ||||||
10 | Bailey Cale, Broc Beekman, Brynlee Beekman, Cade Beekman, Clay | ||||||
11 | Beekman, Cole Beekman, Lexi (Michael Curry) Carlock, Gabe | ||||||
12 | Carlock, Belle Carlock, Ella Laethem, and Evelyn Laethem; his | ||||||
13 | great-grandsons, Nash and Crew Utter; and his siblings, Karen | ||||||

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Gale D. Beekman and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
20 | further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Gale Beekman as an expression of our | ||||||
23 | deepest sympathy.
