2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of March "Mike" Wells Jr. of Louisville, | ||||||
4 | Kentucky; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, March Wells Jr. was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan | ||||||
6 | to Helen Lee and March Wells Sr. on October 3, 1928; he moved | ||||||
7 | to McLean County at an early age; he graduated from Trinity | ||||||
8 | High School in Bloomington; he earned a degree in economics | ||||||
9 | from the University of Miami, where he was a member of Phi | ||||||
10 | Gamma Delta fraternity; In 1951, he joined the United States | ||||||
11 | Navy and attained the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and | ||||||
12 | traveled to both the Arctic and Antarctic; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, March Wells Jr. was employed by Dealer's Transport | ||||||
14 | for many years and owned three Big O Tire stores; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, March Wells Jr. was active in the Rotary and was a | ||||||
16 | Kentucky Colonel; he was also a charter member of Hunting Creek | ||||||
17 | Country Club; he was president of the Early American Copper | ||||||
18 | Society from 1999 until 2002; one of his greatest passions was | ||||||
19 | coin collecting, particularly large cents; he was an avid fan | ||||||
20 | of University of Louisville sports, especially basketball, and | ||||||
21 | was a season ticket holder for more than 50 years; he also | ||||||
22 | enjoyed golf; and

1 | WHEREAS, March Wells Jr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
2 | parents; and his wife of 49 years, Sara; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, March Wells Jr. is survived by his sons, March | ||||||
4 | (Marcia) Wells III, John L. (Lori) Wells, and Paul W. Wells; | ||||||
5 | his daughter, Amy (Paul) Wells Gruner; his daughter-in-law, | ||||||
6 | Kimi Day Wells; and his grandchildren, Isaac, Michaela, Morgan, | ||||||
7 | Sara, Patrick, and Benjamin; therefore, be it
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
10 | March Wells Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
11 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
12 | further

13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
14 | presented to the family of March "Mike" Wells Jr. as an | ||||||
15 | expression of our deepest sympathy.
