2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Ann Lee "Annie" Robinson-Anderson, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on on March 27, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ann Robinson-Anderson was born to Henry and Leola | ||||||
6 | Robinson in Natchez, Mississippi on September 12, 1934; she | ||||||
7 | grew up in Natchez and attended Natchez Elementary School in | ||||||
8 | Adams County; she relocated to Chicago at the age of 11; she | ||||||
9 | joined First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church at the age | ||||||
10 | of 13, where she helped form the junior choir with her good | ||||||
11 | friend and sister, Darlene; she graduated from Farren | ||||||
12 | Elementary School and attended Chicago Vocational High School; | ||||||
13 | she graduated from the City Colleges of Chicago; she married | ||||||
14 | Bennie Anderson on February 3, 1951; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Ann Robinson-Anderson and her husband owned | ||||||
16 | numerous gas stations on the South Side of Chicago, employing | ||||||
17 | hundreds; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Ann Robinson-Anderson was a hard worker, an | ||||||
19 | entrepreneur, and an independent woman; she was a jack of all | ||||||
20 | trades and mastered many, having several hobbies; she was a | ||||||
21 | milliner, creating custom women's hats and designs, in | ||||||
22 | addition to being a beautician and a cook; she was also known |

1 | for her home decor and renovations; and

2 | WHEREAS, Ann Robinson-Anderson was preceded in death by | ||||||
3 | her husband; her parents; her grandson, Kenneth Langston Van | ||||||
4 | Doren II; her adopted daughter, Karen Babbs; and Juanita | ||||||
5 | Turner, Henry Robinson Jr., Henrietta Robinson, and Nancy | ||||||
6 | Triblet; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Ann Robinson-Anderson is survived by her | ||||||
8 | daughter, Jaquie Algee; her adopted daughters, Deborah Dixon | ||||||
9 | and Phyllis Brooks; her grandsons, Jimmy "Bimp" (Amanda) | ||||||
10 | Holloway, and David Van Doren; her nieces, CheChe, Nicky, and | ||||||
11 | Kellye; her nephews, Denell (Valerie) Logan and Christopher | ||||||
12 | Brewer; her sisters, Patricia Harris, Estella Hibbler, and | ||||||
13 | Ruth (Terry) Robinson-Renfro; her brother, Arthur Jefferies; | ||||||
14 | her special sisters and first cousins, Mary Willis, Mamie | ||||||
15 | Sylvester, Veronica Mathis, and Gloria Mae Logan-Brewer; her | ||||||
16 | additional sisters, Darlene Dyson and Opal Williams; her home | ||||||
17 | care worker, Annette Caldwell; and numerous adopted | ||||||
18 | grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family, and friends; | ||||||
19 | therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
22 | Ann Lee "Annie" Robinson-Anderson and extend our sincere | ||||||
23 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
