2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of John H. VanGeem of Gurnee, formerly of | ||||||
4 | Waukegan, who passed away on April 11, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John VanGeem was born on November 15, 1922, in | ||||||
6 | Evanston, and was an area resident for many years; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, John VanGeem was a veteran of World War II, | ||||||
8 | serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a gunner on a B-24 in the | ||||||
9 | South Pacific; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, John VanGeem worked as a painter decorator for his | ||||||
11 | entire life in the family business, which was started in 1881; | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, John VanGeem was a member of Trinity United | ||||||
14 | Lutheran Church in Waukegan, AMVETS, the Waukegan YMCA, and the | ||||||
15 | Swedish Glee Club; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, John VanGeem was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
17 | Shirley; his parents, John and Lillian VanGeem; and his | ||||||
18 | sisters, Jeanette, Helen, Ruth, and Lillian; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, John VanGeem is survived by his children, Curtis |

1 | VanGeem, John VanGeem, and Lisa (Ken) Ruley; his | ||||||
2 | daughter-in-law, Barb Joynson; his grandchildren, Katie | ||||||
3 | VanGeem, John VanGeem, Mitchell Ruley, and Ross Ruley; and his | ||||||
4 | many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
7 | his family and friends, the passing of John H. VanGeem; and be | ||||||
8 | it further
| ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to the family of John VanGeem as an expression of our | ||||||
11 | sympathy.
