| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Roger J. Seghetti of Peoria, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on February 25, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti was born in Streator on January 20, | ||||||
6 | 1936 to Kling and Alma (nee Smith) Seghetti and grew up in | ||||||
7 | nearby Toluca; he married Rose Gerardo on August 29, 1959 at | ||||||
8 | St. Ann Parish in Toluca; he graduated from Bradley University | ||||||
9 | in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and a minor in | ||||||
10 | economics; he served in the United States Air Force Reserve and | ||||||
11 | was activated during the Berlin Crisis of 1961; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, In 1959, Roger Seghetti was hired by WABCO, | ||||||
13 | Construction & Mining Division, which was later acquired by | ||||||
14 | American Standard Corp. and then Dresser Industries; he worked | ||||||
15 | in various management positions in finance, business planning, | ||||||
16 | and for a short period of time, as a consultant, until his | ||||||
17 | retirement in 1987; in 1967, he and his wife began a full-time | ||||||
18 | devotion to the development and management of Red Carpet Car | ||||||
19 | Wash, first on Jefferson Street and then to 2 additional | ||||||
20 | locations; he also developed several real estate projects in | ||||||
21 | the Peoria area; and

22 | WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti served on several local community |

1 | service boards, including the Salvation Army Advisory Board, | ||||||
2 | the Order of Saint Francis Foundation Board, and the Morton | ||||||
3 | Community Bank Advisory Board; he also served as a Trustee and | ||||||
4 | finance council member for St. Vincent de Paul Parish in | ||||||
5 | Peoria, where he and his wife were founding members; they were | ||||||
6 | also members of Legatus and Mount Hawley Country Club; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti was a 3-time champion of the Clitch | ||||||
8 | Capponi Memorial Bocci Ball Tournament, held annually on Labor | ||||||
9 | Day weekend in Toluca, which is the largest bocci ball | ||||||
10 | tournament in the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti was preceded in death by his | ||||||
12 | parents; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti is survived by his wife, Rose, and | ||||||
14 | their 3 children, Michael (Jeannie) Seghetti, David Seghetti, | ||||||
15 | and Kathryn (Dan) Maloof; his 6 grandchildren, Anna Seghetti, | ||||||
16 | William, Anthony, and Gina Seghetti, and Jacob and Margaret | ||||||
17 | Maloof; and his 2 sisters-in-law, Kay Gerardo and Ann Gerardo; | ||||||
18 | therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
21 | Roger J. Seghetti, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
22 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
