| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of John P. Gardner, Sr. of East Peoria, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on February 12, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was born on May 18, 1950 in | ||||||
| 6 | Peoria; his parents were Charles and Erna (nee Moeller) | ||||||
| 7 | Gardner; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was president of and a longtime | ||||||
| 9 | electrician at Oberlander Electric Company, Inc. in East | ||||||
| 10 | Peoria; he and his brothers managed the business for their | ||||||
| 11 | father and helped it grow into what it is today; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. enjoyed working with | ||||||
| 13 | motorcycles, R/C boats and airplanes, golfing, go-karts, and | ||||||
| 14 | piloting airplanes; he enjoyed spending time with his family | ||||||
| 15 | and friends in the Peoria area, at their winter home in Fort | ||||||
| 16 | Myers, Florida, and on his annual golf trip to Myrtle Beach, | ||||||
| 17 | South Carolina; he was also a die-hard Bradley Braves and | ||||||
| 18 | Chicago Bears fan; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was an Illinois State flat track | ||||||
| 20 | motorcycle champion; he served as a flag man at the Peoria | ||||||
| 21 | Speedway; he was a member of the Pekin Country Club for over 20 | ||||||

| 1 | years and a member of the Club's board; he also served on the | ||||||
| 2 | East Peoria Chamber of Commerce Board; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 4 | parents; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. is survived by his fiancee, | ||||||
| 6 | Josie Fincham; 2 sons, John (Crystal) Gardner, Jr. and Robert | ||||||
| 7 | Gardner; 4 daughters, Mia Fincham, Sophia McCormack, Sheria | ||||||
| 8 | (Brock) Quinlan, and Cia Fincham; 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers, | ||||||
| 9 | James (Vicky) Gardner and Steve (Candy) Gardner; and a sister, | ||||||
| 10 | Therese (John) Jones; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
| 13 | family and friends, mourn the passing of John P. Gardner, Sr.; | ||||||
| 14 | and be it further
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 16 | presented to the family of John Gardner, Sr. as an expression | ||||||
| 17 | of our sympathy.
