| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Benjamin Joseph "Ben" Theilen of | ||||||
4 | Springfield, who passed away on December 6, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ben Theilen was born to Larry and Barbara Bee | ||||||
6 | Theilen in Springfield on April 8, 1978; he earned his | ||||||
7 | bachelor's degree in Education and his master's degree in | ||||||
8 | Administrative Education at Eastern Illinois University; he | ||||||
9 | then obtained a Superintendent Endorsement; he married Morgan | ||||||
10 | M. Park on June 22, 2013; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Ben Theilen began his teaching career as an 8th | ||||||
12 | grade math teacher at Pleasant Plains Middle School before | ||||||
13 | becoming assistant principal and then principal; at the time | ||||||
14 | of his passing, he was currently serving as Superintendent of | ||||||
15 | Schools for the Community of Edinburg; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Ben Theilen coached baseball, basketball, and | ||||||
17 | softball in the Pleasant Plains Community Unit School District | ||||||
18 | #8; his most enjoyable coaching experiences were while | ||||||
19 | coaching his son's baseball team and his daughter's basketball | ||||||
20 | team; and

21 | WHEREAS, Ben Theilen was a member of West Side Christian |

| |||||||
1 | Church; he was an avid collector of baseball cards, which | ||||||
2 | later turned into a large collection of various items from | ||||||
3 | area auctions; he loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and | ||||||
4 | also enjoyed Illini basketball and participating in fantasy | ||||||
5 | football; on the side, he enjoyed helping his father and uncle | ||||||
6 | as a carpenter and tinkering in the garage; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Ben Theilen will be remembered as a wonderful | ||||||
8 | educator and friend and, most importantly, he will be | ||||||
9 | remembered as a dedicated husband, father, son, and brother; | ||||||
10 | and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Ben Theilen was preceded in death by his | ||||||
12 | grandparents, Robert and Ann Bee and August and Lena Theilen; | ||||||
13 | and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Ben Theilen is survived by his wife, Morgan; his | ||||||
15 | children, Grayson, Monroe, and Emmerson; his parents; his | ||||||
16 | brother, Kristofer (Lori) Theilen; the family dog, Charlie; | ||||||
17 | and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; | ||||||
18 | therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
21 | Benjamin Joseph "Ben" Theilen and extend our sincere | ||||||
22 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |

2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
