SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Marilyn J. Standley of Springfield,
who passed away on March 3, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn Standley was born to Earl J. and Rhoda
Mae (Dowdell) McMillen in Taylorville on August 30, 1952; she
graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1970 and went on to
graduate from Hardin Business School; she later earned
continuing education credits in accounting at Lincoln Land
Community College; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn Standley worked as a bookkeeper in the
Jacksonville City Clerk's Office for many years; she later
worked as a claims processor, service representative, and
trainer for BlueCross BlueShield; she moved to Springfield to
work for the Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) in 2011,
where she worked until her passing; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn Standley was preceded in death by her
parents and her sister, Diana Ahrens; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn Standley is survived by her ex-husband,
Edward Standley; her sons, Michael (Joy) Standley and David
(April) Standley; her grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, Joshua,

Henry, and Ella Standley; and her sister, Marsha (Chuck)
Norris; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Marilyn J. Standley and extend our sincere condolences to her
family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Marilyn Standley as an expression
of our deepest sympathy.
