| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Charlotte Maris Wax of Newman, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on December 18, 2022 at the age of 103; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax was born in Tuscola on February 27, | ||||||
6 | 1919 and graduated from the University of Illinois; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Along with work on the family farm in Newman | ||||||
8 | raising corn, soybeans, Duroc hogs, and Shorthorn cattle, | ||||||
9 | Charlotte Wax taught business at the high school in Tuscola; | ||||||
10 | and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax was a lifelong member of the Newman | ||||||
12 | Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher | ||||||
13 | and Methodist Woman member; she was active in the Newman | ||||||
14 | Woman's Club, serving as a 50-year member; she was still a | ||||||
15 | devoted 49-year member of the Stephen A. Douglas Chapter of | ||||||
16 | the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she had served | ||||||
17 | as Regent and Honorary Regent; she was a long time 4-H leader | ||||||
18 | with the Newman Kum-Joy-Nus 4-H Club, and she started the | ||||||
19 | Buttons n Bows Home Economics Club for sewing and food | ||||||
20 | projects; she also chaperoned the dorms for many years at the | ||||||
21 | Illinois State Fair; and

1 | WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax was the Illinois Future Homemakers | ||||||
2 | of America Chapter Mother in 1969 and was selected as | ||||||
3 | Illinoisan of the Day at the Illinois State Fair in 2018; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax enjoyed genealogy, reading, playing | ||||||
5 | euchre, watching Illini sports, and spoiling her ten | ||||||
6 | grandchildren and 25 plus great-grandchildren; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax was preceded in death by her | ||||||
8 | husband of 43 years, Ray Wax, and her parents, Ward and Zala | ||||||
9 | Maris; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax is survived by her sons, Wallace | ||||||
11 | (Becky) and Richard (Carol); her daughter, Martha (Robert); | ||||||
12 | her grandchildren, Deborah Holifield, Kimberly Rund, Michael | ||||||
13 | Wax, Andrea Gallagher, Katharine Sherman, David Wax, Andrew | ||||||
14 | Wax, Kristina Milburn, Roberta Lower, and Scott Burris; and | ||||||
15 | her great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
18 | Charlotte Maris Wax and extend our sincere
condolences to her | ||||||
19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be it | ||||||
20 | further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
