Bill Title: Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Notwithstanding any other provision of the Act, provides that a person's license under the Act shall be deemed suspended by operation of law upon the filing of an indictment, complaint, or information that charges the person with a violent or sexual crime. Provides that the license shall remain suspended until the criminal proceedings have concluded. Effective immediately.

| 1 | AN ACT concerning professional regulation.

| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by | |||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | adding Section 22.7 as follows:

| 6 | (5 ILCS 5/22.7 new) | |||||||||||||||||||
| 7 | Sec. 22.7. Suspension of license for violent or sexual | |||||||||||||||||||
| 8 | crime. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, a | |||||||||||||||||||
| 9 | person's license under this Act shall be deemed suspended by | |||||||||||||||||||
| 10 | operation of law upon the filing of an indictment, complaint, | |||||||||||||||||||
| 11 | or information that charges the person with a violent or sexual | |||||||||||||||||||
| 12 | crime. The license shall remain suspended until the criminal | |||||||||||||||||||
| 13 | proceedings have concluded.
