Amends the Counties Code, Township Code, and the Illinois Municipal Code. 1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section
55-1134 as follows:
6 (55 ILCS 5/5-1134 new)
7 Sec. 5-1134. Fee for emergency fire and rescue services.
8The county board may not charge fees for emergency or rescue
9services rendered by the fire department of the county against
10persons, businesses, and other entities who are not residents
11of the county.
12 Section 10. The Township Code is amended by changing
13Sections 200-14a and 200-14b as follows:
14 (60 ILCS 1/200-14b)
15 Sec. 200-14b. Technical rescue services. A township that
16provides fire protection services may fix, charge, and collect
17reasonable fees for technical rescue services provided by the
18township. The total amount collected may not exceed the
19reasonable cost of providing the technical rescue services and
20may include charges for personnel and equipment costs. A
21township may not charge fees for emergency or rescue services

5 Section 15. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
6adding Section 11-6-1.2 as follows:
7 (65 ILCS 5/11-6-1.2 new)
8 Sec. 11-6-1.2. Fee for emergency fire and rescue services.
9The corporate authorities of a municipality may not charge fees
10for emergency or rescue services rendered by the fire
11department of the municipality against persons, businesses,
12and other entities who are not residents of the municipality.
13 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
14becoming law.
