SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
25 ILCS 120/7 new

Amends the Compensation Review Act. Provides that members of the General Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based on a cost of living adjustment for terms commencing on or after January 1, 2023, unless otherwise approved by law. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Compensation Review Act is amended by adding
5Section 7 as follows:
6 (25 ILCS 120/7 new)
7 Sec. 7. General Assembly COLAs prohibited. Notwithstanding
8any former or current provision of this Act, any other law, any
9report of the Compensation Review Board, or any resolution of
10the General Assembly to the contrary, members of the General
11Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive
12any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based
13on a cost of living adjustment, as authorized by Senate Joint
14Resolution 192 of the 86th General Assembly, for terms
15commencing on or after January 1, 2023, unless otherwise
16approved by law.
17 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18becoming law.
