Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Makes a technical change in the Section defining medical malpractice action.

1 AN ACT concerning civil law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by
5 changing Section 2-1704 as follows:
6 (735 ILCS 5/2-1704) (from Ch. 110, par. 2-1704)
7 Sec. 2-1704. Medical Malpractice Action. As used in this
8 Part, "medical malpractice action" means any action, whether in
9 tort, contract or otherwise, in which the the plaintiff seeks
10 damages for injuries or death by reason of medical, hospital,
11 or other healing art malpractice. The term "healing art" shall
12 not include care and treatment by spiritual means through
13 prayer in accord with the tenets and practices of a recognized
14 church or religious denomination.
