Provides that the standard registration fee for electric vehicles shall be waived for any vehicle owner who is a volunteer firefighter or emergency services personnel. Provides that the new provisions do not apply to the fee set forth for electric vehicles.

1 | AN ACT concerning transportation.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | Section 3-806.75 as follows:

6 | (625 ILCS 5/3-806.75 new) | |||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 3-806.75. Registration fees for volunteer firemen and | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | emergency medical services personnel. | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | (a) Beginning with the first registration year commencing | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 102nd | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | General Assembly, the standard registration fee set forth in | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | Section 3-806 for passenger motor vehicles of the first | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | division and motor vehicles of the second division weighing | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | not more than 8,000 pounds and registered under Section 3-815 | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | shall be waived for any Illinois vehicle owner who is a | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | volunteer firefighter or emergency medical services personnel. | |||||||||||||||||||
17 | (b) This Section does not apply to the fee set forth in | |||||||||||||||||||
18 | Section 3-805 for electric vehicles.
